Our Story
"My grandfather had a love for RVs, vans, and outdoor adventure and my father had the exact same love. We never took a vacation that wasn't in an adventure van, conversion van, or an RV of some sort. That's where the passion started." - Brent Kline
Woodrow Kline
Vandoit traces its roots back to Kline Motors, founded in 1947 by Woodrow Wilson Kline, also known as Woody. Woody’s passion for vehicles, especially RVs and camper vans, shaped the family business from the start. His son, Woodrow F. Kline, or Fritz, inherited this love, continuing the family’s involvement in the van and RV industry. Fritz was dedicated to customizing vans, including converting a Greyhound bus for a family trip across the West Coast. This hands-on approach to vehicle modification became a hallmark of the Kline family’s work, creating a foundation for the future evolution of the business.
Brent Kline, Fritz’s son and the current owner of Kline Van Specialty Rentals and Vandoit, grew up surrounded by camper vans and outdoor adventures. His early exposure to vehicles and outdoor sports, combined with his family’s tradition of customizing vans, naturally led to the creation of Vandoit. The brand was born to meet the growing demand for adventure vans, tapping into the van-life movement. Today, Brent’s family is deeply involved in the business, with many long-standing team members working alongside them.
Kline Family Current
Before diving into van conversions, Vandoit was known for its van leasing business, giving us a unique edge in the camper van industry. We didn’t just buy vans and start experimenting—we leveraged our deep roots in the automobile business. Our transition into van conversions was inspired by a love for outdoor adventure and the desire to create vehicles that would allow others to enjoy the same experiences we had growing up.
The idea for Vandoit camper vans was born out of a family holiday project. Brent’s sons and son-in-law, Jared McCauslin, inspired by the family’s outdoor traditions, decided to convert a rental van into a camper as a gift. That project sparked a realization: there was a demand for affordable, high-quality camper vans that could offer the same joy of adventure. From that moment, Vandoit shifted its focus to creating modular, transformable vans designed for real-life adventures.
As demand grew, Vandoit expanded beyond adventure vans to offer commercial solutions, building customized mobile units for police departments, medical organizations, and companies needing specialized mobile workspaces. Today, Vandoit serves a broad spectrum of clients, including nonprofits, creating mobile solutions for various purposes like outreach, field operations, and medical response. This dual focus on both adventure and commercial vans has solidified Vandoit’s position as a leader in the van conversion industry.
