About Jared mcCauslin

Jared McCauslin is the Co-Founder and CEO of Vandoit, where he serves as the primary visionary behind the company’s modular engineering and technical innovation. Affectionately known within the facility and by Vandoit owners as the “mad scientist,” Jared’s unique approach combines a rigorous, numbers-driven corporate background with a lifelong, hands-on passion for building and custom integration. Grounded in craftsmanship and economics, Jared’s work ethic was forged on a beef cattle farm where he spent his youth learning how to build, maintain, and

repair heavy machinery completely by hand. An entrepreneur from an early age, he launched his first shop at just 13 years old, building custom speaker and subwoofer boxes out of his garage. During college, Jared mastered the highly technical and detailed art of high-end vehicle audio integration and custom home automation under an electrical engineer, developing a deep appreciation for complex wiring and clean system design. Upon graduating, Jared transitioned to the corporate sector as a commodities trader and analyst, executing intensive financial modeling and macroeconomic forecasting. While this work honed his highly analytical, numbers-driven, and macroeconomic mindset, Jared yearned to return to hands-on craftsmanship. In 2016, he moved back to Kansas City to partner with his father-in-law, Brent Kline. Refusing to run a standard vehicle rental desk, Jared committed instead to building “something much bigger”—a modular vehicle platform that would redefine how people live, work, and explore.

Facilitating the Ultimate, Drama-Free AdventureAt his core, Jared is a passionate advocate for the outdoor lifestyle. He co-founded Vandoit with a singular, driving purpose: to facilitate adventure. Growing up in a multi-generational automotive family, Jared and Brent understood that standard, wood-constructed RVs were often rigid, fragile “rattle traps”.Jared’s mission was to eliminate what he calls “road drama”—the structural failures, musty smells, rotting wood, and electrical nightmares that cut family vacations short. He pioneered Vandoit’s proprietary anodized aluminum T-track “skeleton grid”, which lines the ceiling, walls, and floor of the van. By utilizing a completely wood-free interior constructed from marine-grade plastics, lightweight honeycombs, and aluminum composite materials (ACM), Jared engineered a bulletproof, lightweight, and easily cleanable chassis that handles extreme temperature fluctuations and heavy trail use without warping, swelling, or mold.Whether hauling mountain bikes, dirt bikes, or family gear, Jared’s focus is on creating a highly functional, safe “escape pod” that acts as a Swiss army knife for the road. This dedication to durability ensures that outdoor enthusiasts can push their boundaries deeper into the wild with complete peace of mind.

Footprint Expansion and Commercial DiversificationUnder Jared’s leadership, Vandoit has dramatically expanded its nationwide footprint. In early 2023, Jared officially launched Vandoit’s Commercial Van Division, applying the company’s modular T-track engineering to high-use B2B, municipal, and crisis-response fleets. A major milestone of this diversification was a revolutionary partnership with healthcare giant Netsmart. Together, Vandoit and Netsmart designed highly specialized mobile medical clinics and behavioral health crisis response units. These advanced vehicles allow clinicians to deliver on-site therapy, mental health intervention, and tele-health services directly into underserved, rural, and high-need communities. By expanding into medical, community outreach, mobile command centers, rapid disaster response, and tactical law enforcement platforms, Jared has diversified Vandoit’s portfolio across highly stable, non-cyclical public and private sectors.

Protecting the Long-Term Investment of Adventure CustomersWhile the expansion into commercial fleets represents rapid business growth, Jared’s strategic diversification is a profound win for Vandoit’s consumer adventure customers. In the volatile RV and automotive markets, Jared’s macroeconomic mindset ensures that every adventure customer’s purchase is backed by a highly stable, diversified company.
This commercial expansion protects the consumer’s investment in three critical ways:

  1. Guaranteed Corporate Stability & Lifelong SupportJared view the purchase of a Vandoit camper van as a “marriage for the life of the vehicle.” Vandoit is one of the very few upfitters in the country to employ a fully staffed, in-house customer relations team and a service department that works directly on the production line. By securing multi-year municipal, healthcare, and corporate fleet contracts, Vandoit stabilizes its revenues against standard economic downturns and fluctuations in the consumer RV market. This long-term corporate health guarantees that Vandoit’s exceptional lifetime support, in-house service centers, and remote technical troubleshooting will remain robustly operational for decades to come.
  2. Massive Purchasing Power & Ford Factory PriorityAs an official Ford Pro Upfitter and QVM Certified partner, Vandoit builds exclusively on the rugged Ford Transit platform. The massive volume generated by the commercial division drastically multiplies Vandoit’s buying power. This scale allows Jared to secure premium bulk pricing on advanced electrical systems, off-grid lithium batteries, and rugged components—savings that are passed directly back to adventure buyers. Furthermore, this volume-driven relationship guarantees that Vandoit receives first-priority chassis allocations directly from Ford, drastically reducing production wait times and protecting buyers from chassis shortages.
  3. High-Tier Technology Cross-PollinationThe extreme, high-stress requirements of municipal and emergency medical fleets serve as the ultimate proving ground for Vandoit’s engineering. The rugged innovations developed for mobile clinical environments—such as high-capacity off-grid Mastervolt lithium battery banks, automated CZone power management systems, and heavy-duty, multi-section drainage/wash-down floor systems—are fed directly back into consumer models like the LIV, DO, and MOOV. Adventure customers receive a consumer van engineered to rigorous federal, commercial, and emergency response safety standards, preserving the vehicle’s structural integrity and resale value far longer than any traditional wood-framed camper on the market.Through hands-on testing as the company’s chief test pilot and his direct collaboration on the shop floor with both adventure owners and fleet managers, Jared McCauslin continues to pilot mobile innovations that protect his customers’ assets, elevate their safety, and inspire their next great journey.
