Larger mobile units · Built on the Ford Transit

More room around the patient. Same Transit behind the wheel.

Our larger units add roughly 1.5 to 2 feet of interior width and 4 feet or more of length. That is enough to walk all the way around a treatment chair, or to run two clinical rooms and a restroom in one vehicle. It still drives like a Transit, with no CDL.

The limit of a van

Five feet goes fast.

An extended-length Transit gives you about 12 feet of working length and about 5 feet of width. Once you put a chair, a counter and a clinician in that width, the space decides your workflow for you.

Dental

You need to walk around the patient.

Cleanings and exams mean leaning the chair back, working from both sides, and keeping a safe distance while you do it. Five feet leaves no path around the chair.

Treatment and dispensing

The workflow needs its own room.

Mobile methadone, a pantry, supply storage: each has a set path from intake to hand-off. In a narrow body those stations stack on top of each other.

Supplies and teams

People and equipment need to pass.

Several staff moving behind seated coworkers, or a large item carried in and set on a table to sort through, both need clearance a van body can't give.

The standard van is still the right call for plenty of missions. Mobile command units, where people sit at workstations all day, fit 5 feet well. So does preventive care. The larger unit is for services that need room around the person you're serving.

Width is the difference
+1.5–2 ftof interior width, floor to ceiling

Length decides how many rooms you get. Width decides what you can do inside each one. A Transit's body curves inward as it rises. Our larger unit's walls go straight up, so the space you gain holds all the way to the ceiling.

  • Patient
Position across the vehicleWith the extra width, a patient can lie sideways instead of lengthwise, which frees the length for other work.

Interior width comparison A standard extended Ford Transit gives about 5 feet of usable width, with walls that curve inward. Vandoit's larger unit gives about 6.5 to 7 feet with vertical walls and overhead storage, and stops short of the full 8.5-foot width used by many box builds. ≈ 5 FT USABLE Standard Transit EXTENDED LENGTH VAN WALLS CURVE IN FULL 8.5 FT · WE STOP SHORT STORAGE STORAGE ≈ 6.5–7 FT USABLE · +1.5–2 FT Vandoit larger unit VERTICAL WALLS
Widths are approximate interior figures. The extra width comes from vertical walls, so overhead storage sits above the walkway instead of in it.
Longer, too

Two patients at a time, not one.

We also add roughly 4 to 4.5 feet of length behind the driver's seat. That turns one treatment space into two clinical rooms with a built-in restroom, so every trip serves twice the people.

Still drives like a Transit

Bigger inside. Not a truck to drive.

Many mobile builds go to the full 8.5-foot width. We stop short of that on purpose, so the person behind the wheel doesn't need a CDL or years of truck-and-trailer experience to drive it safely.

Concept sketch · the mirrors still see past the body
No CDL

Your staff can drive it.

It stays on the Ford Transit, so the drivers you have today can take it out tomorrow.

Visibility

You can still see around it.

The body stays inside the Transit's blind-spot lines, so drivers keep a clear view past the box in their mirrors.

Access

It fits where your clients are.

A unit people can comfortably drive is a unit that actually gets to the parking lots, rural roads and neighborhoods you serve.

Beyond the clinic

Room for equipment, too.

The same straight-walled body works for public safety. Roll-up shutter doors open the side of the unit, so gear comes out from the curb instead of from inside the vehicle.
